DAA Tour of AmmaZulu African Palace & Peter Amm’s Garden in Kloof – Saturday, 26 October 2019

A tour of AmmaZulu African Palace in Kloof in the morning, an optional lunch at the venue and a tour of Peter Amm’s Kloof garden in the afternoon.

This outing can be done as a whole or as per your preference. Either do the tour of AmmaZulu African Palace in the morning (11.30), followed by a lunch (12.30-14.00) and a tour of Peter Amm’s Kloof garden in the afternoon (14.30) or select a part of the outing that is of interest to you.

Located in Kloof, Durban; AmmaZulu African Palace is a visionary guest house celebrating the cultural heritage of KwaZulu-Natal. It is built on the edge of the Kloof gorge, overlooking the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. The palace is the vision of Durban artist Peter Amm, who has used his entire collection of Zulu art and crafts to decorate the structure. It has been designed principally by fellow UKZN alumnus Kevin MacGarry of Architects Collaborative.

The visitor to this unique destination will be forgiven if he or she felt a distinct sensory overload as there is so much to take in, explore and experience. From the breathtaking view of the Kloof gorge to the private Zulu art collections throughout the many rooms.

You are invited to a tour by Kevin MacGarry of AmmaZulu – where he will explain the architectural challenges and successes of the structure and provide you with an opportunity to have a look at the amazing structure and the contents.

An optional lunch is available (with various choices ranging from tea/coffee and a snack to a sit-down exclusive lunch). After the lunch – you are invited to visit Peter Amm’s amazing garden and to enjoy this enchanted space.
