UKZN Convocation AGM Nominations – Deadline: 16h30 on Friday 5 November 2021
This is a reminder that NOMINATIONS for the various Convex portfolios, namely,
1. President of Convocation (and Chair of Convex).
2. Elected Convocation members to the UKZN Council (2 positions).
3. Convex members (6 positions).
have been called for, and need to be submitted by no later than 16h30 on Friday 5 November 2021, in keeping with the nomination procedure(below), and on the nomination form (below). A document that addresses eligibility for nomination is also appended.
This is an appeal to ALL CONVOCATION MEMBERS to ensure that nominations are made in good time, noting that no nominations will be accepted after this time and date.
Voting for the various office bearers is scheduled for Wednesday 17 November 2021. The results of the online election process will be announced at the AGM on Friday 19 November 2021. Finally, also note that only those Convocation members registered to attend the AGM will be eligible to vote, having access to the online voting platform.

Notice of UKZN Convocation Annual General Meeting 2021
In accordance with the University Statute and Section 9.1.1. of the Constitution of the Convocation of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, notice is hereby given of the 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Convocation of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) to be held virtually on Friday, 19 November 2021, commencing promptly at 18h00.
Due to the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, all University engagements, other than identified teaching and learning activities, are conducted via online platforms. The magnitude and impact of the pandemic has forced our University community to evolve, adapt and grow within this remote environment and further to embrace the technology that allows us to connect with one another across the country and world.
Meetings of Convocation are restricted to members of Convocation, and in order to facilitate online access to the meeting of Friday, 19 November 2021, members will be required to register for this purpose, and to do so by 16h30 on Friday, 05 November 2021 via email on convocationagm2021@ukzn.ac.za. This deadline will be strictly applied, and is necessary for the purpose of ensuring that all arrangements for the online voting process and meeting can be put in place in good time.
Details for voting in the election and for joining the meeting will be sent, to those validated members who have pre-registered to attend the AGM and participate in the online voting process, by Monday, 15 November 2021.
For the purpose of the AGM, the Convocation of the UKZN is made up of:
- all persons who are graduates or diplomats of the UKZN or its predecessors;
- UKZN academic employees on the permanent staff, Professors Emeriti and retired academic employees;
- the UKZN Vice-Chancellor and Principal, the Deputy Vice-Chancellors and Registrar.
