2015 VARSITY SHIELD FINALS, Monday 06 April 2015, WITS University Rugby Stadium, Live on SuperSport 1 @16h30

On Monday, 30 March 2015, our UKZN Impi went head to head against the University of Fort Hare (UFH) on the Howard College Campus Rugby Stadium in front of thousands of UKZN students, student leaders, staff, members of the Executive Management—the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Albert van Jaarsveld and the Executive Director: Student Services, Dr Sibusiso Chalufu—alumni and friends of the University.

Our boys played their hearts out as a win would guarantee them a final against WITS University on the 6th of April 2015. Our UKZN Impi scored the first try of the match through fly half Marius Louw and Spha Dube slotted the conversion to take the lead of 8—0. This was followed by tries coming from Retief Marais, Langa Shange and another one by Marius Louw to go into the half time with a lead of 29—0.

The second half was a one way affair with Our Boytjies dominating the opponents and scoring 2 additional tries by Marius Louw and Adam Wessels to seal a well-deserved win of 42—0.

Our very own UKZN Flyer, Marius Louw, walked away with the Player That Rocks award for his brilliant performance during the game and his contribution of 3 tries to our score.

UKZN will be playing in the 2015 Varsity Shield finals against WITS University in Johannesburg on Monday, 6th of April 2015.
