Our UKZN Cricket team played in the semi-finals of the 2015 Challenge Division T20 against the Dawnheights Cricket Club at the Home of The KZN Dolphins in Kingsmead Cricket Stadium on Saturday, 28 March 2015.

Our boys played exceptionally well and scored 80 runs for 1 wicket with Senuran Muthusamy scoring 32 runs and Schalk Gordon taking 4 wickets. UKZN won by 9 wickets and qualified for the finals which were played on Sunday, 29 March 2015 at Kingsmead Cricket Stadium.

The finals were played against the ILembe team from uThongathi and it was a heated match as the winner would progress to the Premier League which is the highest division in KZN Cricket League. Our UKZN team, led by captain Devon James, played superbly well by scoring 177 runs for 4 wickets with Richard Wissing making 30 runs and Senuran Muthusamy a stable 68 runs not out.

The ILembe team were bowled out for 81 runs and this was a stunning victory for UKZN in the 2014/15 season and a promotion to the KZN Premier League in the coming season.

UKZN will now compete with the best in the Province and are looking forward to it.

The team would like to acknowledge the outstanding performance of all players, in particular UKZN batsman Senuran Muthusamy, for the contribution of 68 runs in the finals, and also for the superb bowling of Sumanth Sunkari.

The team would also like to acknowledge students and staff who have supported them throughout the season.

On behalf of the UKZN Executive Management and the entire UKZN community, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Devon James and the boys for flying the UKZN flag high throughout this tournament and for making us proud by being crowned the 2015 Champions and gaining promotion to the KZN Premier League!
