Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 18 - 25 October 2015
October 07, 2015
CALL to ALUMNI to be BRAND AMBASSADORS for UKZN as the University competes in the BRIDGESTONE WORLD SOLAR CHALLENGE
The University Community is excited about supporting our students and lecturers in the Engineering discipline, who are preparing to participate in the upcoming Bridgestone World Solar Challenge taking place in Australia from 18-25 October 2015.
The University would like to make a special appeal to you, our alumnus to form part of our initiative to garner support for team UKZN.
At a recently held alumni relations networking event, a number of alumni indicated that they reside along the solar race route which extends from the city of Darwin in the Northern Territory to Adelaide in South Australia.
We would like to appeal to alumni residing in this area to attend the race and cheer our team on.
As this will be the first year that teams from Africa will participate in this world competition, there has been much media attention. Many of our local South African media are keen to follow the teams’ journey through the race.
We would like to humbly request that all alumni who will be at the race or who have an interest in the event and/or solar technology to be our eyes and ears throughout the race.
Alumni are being called upon to assist as brand ambassadors in order to:
- Be available for media interviews from both local and international media. The media may ask for your view and feeling on UKZN’s participation in the race. The interviews might be telephonic, by email or via skype.
- Actively update University Community on the team’s progress via social media and to contribute to our social media countdown to race week.
- Inform the University Community of activities taking place to support team UKZN, e.g. if local alumni are planning to gather to watch parts of the race on television.
If you would like to be a brand ambassador and assist us in supporting team UKZN, kindly contact the University’s Media Liaison Officer, Miss Sejal Desai on (+27) 31 260 7829 or at email@example.com by 12 October 2015.
