UKZN Cape Town Alumnus Dinner - Article and Photos

The Alumni Relations Office co-ordinated an alumnus get-together in Cape Town on Saturday, 11 May 2019.

Guests were warmly welcomed by Ms Normah Zondo from UKZN’s Corporate Relations Division and this annual event took the form of an excellent three-course dinner with informative talks by both Mr Fanle Sibisi (President of Convocation) and Professor Nana Poku (Acting Vice-Chancellor) at the Twelve Apostles Hotel at Camps Bay.

Mr Sibisi highlighted recent developments that have taken place at the University and encouraged attendees to support the University in whatever way they could. Professor Poku followed-up on Sibisi’s overview and provided detail on the current developments at the University as well as future plans. Of considerable interest to the attendees was Poku’s mention of plans for the implementation of the digital classroom - where regardless of space and time, students will be able to study at UKZN via e-learning.

The event provided an enjoyable opportunity for the alumni, donors and friends of UKZN who attended the event to renew old acquaintances, meet fellow-alumni and be updated on developments at their alma mater.

All attendees went home with information packs containing a selection of University publications and a corporate gift. Similar events will take place in many parts of South Africa and in neighbouring countries during the year. Graduates who wish to receive invitations to these events and UKZN-related information from Alumni Relations are encouraged to update their details via the UKZN alumni website: http://alumniaffairs.ukzn.ac.za/updateservices.aspx or you can email the alumni office on alumni@ukzn.ac.za
