Swaziland Alumnus Lunch: July 2018

A group of 45 alumni from all over Swaziland met on 21 July 2018 for a lunch and information sharing presentation at The George Hotel in Manzini. The group thoroughly enjoyed meeting each other, swopping stories of their University experiences and exchanging contact details. A range of professions were represented by the graduates – including agriculturalists, teachers/lecturers, lawyers and medical practitioners.

The graduates were warmly welcomed by Professor Anesh Singh (Executive Director of the UKZN Foundation) who spoke on the work of the UKZN Foundation, encouraged the attendees to “give back” to their alma mater and also introduced the Guest Speaker. The Guest Speaker was Mr Fanle Sibisi (President and Chair of Convocation). Sibisi gave a comprehensive overview on the current developments at the University as well as information on student numbers, current ranking and research. Questions were later posed to the speakers – many regarding the registration and funding procedures for international students – as many of the attendees were interested to undertake post-graduate studies at the University.

The alumni appreciated the opportunity to receive updates on the University - which reassured them of the international status of their own qualifications and their alma mater,  provided them with the confidence and knowledge to recommend the University to family and friends as well as of the benefits of supporting the University in a number of ways. All attendees went home with UKZN information packs and a gift.
