As you are aware a large number of our students are struggling to find monies to register by 6 March 2020. Close to 50% of the UKZN Foundation income is channelled towards student bursaries. However, raising bursaries takes time and relationship building with large donors.
In order to address the immediate registration need of our students we have launched the #WeCareUKZN campaign to raise funds through crowdfunding using the BackABuddy platform. Crowdfunding is a means of raising money from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount towards a worthy cause typically using technology such as smartphones and the Internet.
For any crowdfunding initiative to be successful we need large numbers of people to donate and share the message. I appeal to you to donate at least R50 and share the message with your personal and professional social networks and encourage them to support our students. To donate, please go to https://www.backabuddy.co.za/wecareukzn and donate.
Donors will receive tax certificates which they can use for tax rebate purposes when they submit their tax returns to SARS.
I trust that you will share this appeal far and wide.
